That aside, it actually looks like it could be good if it doesn’t go over the top. If they steer away from impossible acrobatics and stick with action they may well have something here.

Scroll down for my latest work as well as for whatever's on my mind.
It's not all just dark stuff, so check back for a laugh, some motivation or for pure randomness.
Here comes “Looper” to just throw out all that we already know about time travel. Forget about all those crazy things that happen to you if you were to come face to face with your future self. Gone are the days of time traveling naked a la terminator. No special effects... you just... well appear. Take a look for yourself: It’s written and Directed by Rian Johnson (Brick(2005) and Brothers Bloom(2008)) and starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. While it does away with most of the flash of time travel, it may or may not give you super powers. I mean, is Bruce Willis powering up for something at 1:28?

It's time for something funny... Before a movie’s a movie, it’s script needs to get pitched to get the process going. Ever imagine what’s it’s like to meet with studio officials? We’ve all heard stories about creative control and the lack there of when a movie gets a treatment to be primed for optimal audience reception. But who knew it could be so funny. Check out this sketch about “Back to the Future” getting pitched and rejected. It’s hilarious. Caution: swearing and potentially offensive humor. If you thought that was funny, and offensive type humor’s your bag, then you MUST see the “Teen Wheels” series. The first episode is included below! I’ve actually already watched the series at least 3 times. The three actors are excellent together and each hold their own. Also, a big hand goes out to the live studio audience of mail prisoners, Their reactions are perfect. Be sure to watch the other three episodes. The promos with the news anchors are just as good. Caution: Potentially very offensive humor... you know you wannna - Josh
More... Brains? Ha! Did everyone catch the new trailer for Resident Evil 6? The one that reveals some pretty wild story points? Check it out: So now we're dealing with the C-virus (geez, they're gonna cover the whole alphabet aren't they?) 0:25 gets the creepy started, but 1:06 ruins the mood with a questionable "I need you to fake our deaths"... I mean, What the hell was that all about? Then with the Wesker Junior? I dunno... maybe. To me, Wesker started out as a strong character, but became increasingly one dimensional. Hopefully Junior won't be too much like his father.
And Finally with the Chris versus Leon... Looks decent but could have done without Leon's dramatic bobble head hair settling at 2:29. ...Please let this at least in part be a return to RE's original Survival Horror roots. -Josh Storm coming your way? Don't forget to check out the short story section for: Bolt It has been raining for days. Some would say that there is something unnatural to the storm's duration. There are vague and paranoid whispers of the thunder sounding different, that the rain is falling oddly or even that the lightning is behaving differently. Still, the restless inhabitants venture out into the downpour. But what they find is that there is more to the weather then unfounded suspicion. Click HERE and step out into the rain in "Bolt" And also the poetry Section for: Water Fiend Click HERE, and you're sure to leave feeling unsettled. Also, this is worth a taste: - Josh
“The Box” isn’t a great movie. There’s some intriguing concepts in it, but there isn’t enough of just about everything else to hold it all together. Funny thing is, I actually bought the movie because It got me thinking... That someone or something could control lightning... That’s good idea for a story. Sure, the “box" bit was cool, with deciding whether or not to hit a button to kill someone “you don’t know” for a million dollars and what not. I wonder though how closely it followed the short story “ Button, Button” from which it was based off of (and actually has a Twilight Zone episode based off it as well). If anyone has read it, please leave a comment about it letting us know what it was like. But back to lightning... Control of lightning isn’t a new story concept. There are all sorts of ideas and tales about lightning. Think Zeus, or the use of lightning as magic in fantasy. All interesting, but control of lightning as the central piece of Science fiction, now that’s what I’m talking about. In “The Box”, lightning is controlled by an otherworldly entity or entities that control the mind and body of the lightning strike victim played by a cool Frank Langella who’s character had a quarter of his face singed off. How else could lightning be controlled? Like say by a man made lightning machine? sure. The Video Game: Mother 3 has a lightning machine in it, and I’m certain that it isn’t the only story to have one. Can you name any other works with lightning machines? Where else could lightning come from? If you’re looking for your next creative project, consider letting your imagination loose on the topic of lightning. Like say, what would a lightning machine schematic look like?
- Josh Who missed out on the drop of the “Total Recall” trailer? It looks like the original except for the updated graphics (which look amazing). It’s directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard), And stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale (of course (He's married to Kate)) and Jessica Biel. I’m going to go ahead and say that it’s going to be good. Take a look for yourself: The question is, will this remake go in another direction with the story? Or will it stay faithful to the original classic? Will Collin Farrell be dressed as a woman at one point? and what will it have in place of arnold’s one liners? - Josh
If you're like me and have read the mixed reviews out there on Silent Hill’s latest series entry, “Downpour”, then you might be hesitant about picking it up. Most fans remember the good old days of SH 1-3, with some love for “The Room” but in general disappointment with origins and Homecoming. Shattered memories was an creative reach for something new, especially as played on the Wii but it just didn’t seem to take. Silent Hill as we knew it is dead. Plain as that. Good news is that what we have in SH Downpour is a new take that’s pretty damn good but is still only just coming of age. You’ll be pleased to know that it doesn’t settle into it’s new groove without a nod to it’s past with in game music from previous SH soundtrack and even a sly reference to that “Special place”.It’s got the creepy down too, but only at parts. It does play up the psychological angle, especially as seen in SH2, but it doesn’t quite make as deep an impact. To be sure, it does revert to the action oriented feel and cheap pop out scares as seen in homecoming but there does seem to be an attempt at balance. There’s a whole lot of “it’s good... but” in this game. With it’s horrible combat system... I mean HORRIBLE (I have dropped a weapon so many times trying to ready it to hit something), and somewhat uninspired beginning at the Devil’s pit, It would be easy to see the scales tipped in the favor of this being another disappointing Silent Hill game... BUT, keep playing. I promise it gets better. The puzzles are mostly great. The voice acting and dialogue is good. The story is O.K, The music is decent, but all of this is made so much better by the side quests. They are impressive to say the least. If you’re playing through this game and are thinking about abandoning it, make sure to try out some side quests first, they are the eerie charm of this game. Don’t worry, there’s more great to Downpour than just the side quests. As for the main story line, the radio station and monastery are excellent though the game does suffer from a lackluster prison as the last area (but by that time you’ll want to see this thing through to it’s twist and turn ending).
All in all. If you’re a SH fan and haven’t picked this up yet. do. It’s pretty damn good and gets me hoping that maybe the next installment will be this new generations Silent Hill 2. - Josh |
